Hello! I'm Michelle Gibbens, the mad scientist and cake artist here at harvest bakehouse.

I am a wife & the mother of an amazing, witty, and lively 5-year-old. When I'm not baking & decorating a cake or dreaming up a new cheesecake flavor, I am practicing law (my "real" job) and continuously trying to find the ideal work-bake-life balance.

I have always had a passion for baking. Whether it was the challenge of trying to replicate a difficult recipe, or just craving a taste of something I couldn't find nearby, I would often get lost in my own world in the kitchen. 

​

In the last few years I have learned a great deal about "my style" of baking. Let's not get into how many failed macarons you will never lay eyes on! Whew! Learning new techniques is super important to me. Cake trends come and go, new fads are springing up everywhere, and some trends stick around for a very long time - like the unicorn cake! But most of all, I am constantly striving for amazing flavor. The kind where each bite makes you wish the dessert could go on forever.

I hope to soar through this journey and I am thankful to have had so much support behind me along the way! I could not have done this without the support of my wonderful family and friends! From my husband who always shoots it straight (ask me how many times I've heard, "eh, not my favorite") to my friends who have said for years that I should ditch the law degree and become a full time baker - thank you all!
